Texas Confederate Pension Files

In most cases we may be able to email you free copies from Texas Confederate pension files.

If the file was not inadvertently skipped when they were microfilmed in Austin (a few were) we will be able to send you copies of the entire file, including those which were rejected. Most files were rejected because the veterans had too much personal property or were not able to find anyone who served with them to verify their service.

Both widows and veterans were pensioned beginning in 1899. A Confederate who had served in any other state was eligible if his residence was in Texas.

Send an email to SCVMembership@taylorcampscv.org and put Texas Confederate pension help in the subject line. Tell me the name of your vet and his pension number and I'll see what I can do. I cannot simply send you the files of everyone with a certain surname.
